Embroidery in Palestine has been a tradition passed on from mother to daughter for generations. Daughters began to learn the art of embroidery around the age of six. Learning from the older women of the village the unique motifs, a sense of pride for each village. This craft continues on into today’s culture as a way for local artisans to express themselves and in the more traditional ways already stated. Our artisans here at Bethlehem Fair Trade Artisans embroider everything from shawls to greeting cards to bags.
